Hello friend, I’m Ellen

YT-200 | HOLISTIC THERAPIST (LICSW) | WRITER | SPEAKER

My dream is to restore our connections to each other and reshape our cultural approach to stress and overstimulation.

My name is Ellen Slater. I am a human, writer, therapist, and teacher dedicated to building bridges between the head and heart. My roots have grown from and been shaped by the landscapes of St. Louis, New York, Chicago, Seattle, and Jackson Hole. I have spent months in indigenous countries and road tripping across the country. After many years studying in cities and institutions, I heeded my heart’s call to move to the mountains. Through my lived experience and relentless passion I have created a therapeutic model to awaken and integrate the head & heart. I’m so glad you are here.

From meditation to research, relational connection to earth medicine, my work is an exercise in integration.

I study and draw upon Somatic Therapy, Relational Neuroscience, Eco-Therapy, and Ancient Mystics to build more empathy and compassion for the human experience.

Cultivating a Diverse Wellness Tapestry

My Background

With a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Psychological Services from Northwestern University, I earned a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago. My specialized training includes trauma, anxiety, and substance use, highlighted by a Fellowship with the Center of Excellence in Substance Abuse Training at the Seattle Veteran Affairs Hospital.

I’ve delved deeply into neuroscience and compassion, completing a year-long immersion program in Interpersonal Neurobiology under the guidance of international expert Dr. Bonnie Badenoch. As a certified yoga instructor I seamlessly integrate breathing and movement into trainings, workshops, and therapy. I would love to share practice with you.

FROM MY HEART TO YOURS

The teachings I share support self-awareness, self-love, and connection with all those around us. I have dedicated much of my time and energy studying these diverse teachings, yet will remain a student my entire life.

I see myself as a fellow passenger, we are on this journey together.

Science and ancient wisdom continue to tell us mindfulness and compassion brings harmony to the mind, body and spirit. We are all woven together, sharing this incredibly complex and beautiful ecosystem. If we can find wholeness in ourselves, this impacts the collective.
